As educators, we have discovered first-hand the profound effect that a thoughtfully designed program can have. We seek to encourage and nurture an enduring love of music, so we bring our collective experience, passion and imagination to every school and community that we visit.
From masterclasses and small ensemble coaching, to audition preparation and career planning, Kontras offers programs that address the diversity required of today's emerging musicians. Now in our fourth year as Quartet in Residence at Western Michigan University, we help our university students make music a central focus of their college experience.
K-12 & community programs
We believe that music is vital to the development of a well-rounded child (or adult!). Kontras has made education and outreach a central aspect of our work in the greater Chicago area, and during our residencies in San Diego, North Carolina, Michigan, and South Africa. Our teaching activities and community presentations can be tailored to suit any age or setting.
study with KONTRAS
Every June, the Kontras Quartet Chamber Music Workshop at Emory and Henry College in Virginia provides intensive training in small ensemble playing to pre-college and adult student musicians. Our students develop camaraderie and a sense of community through chamber music, and practice discipline, patience and imagination in their private studies.
